Maffra Shire Rate Books
The Society is very excited to have been allowed access to the Maffra Shire Ratebooks, before they leave the Yarram archives for the Public Record Office.
We are currently copying them from 1876 (the first book), to about 1920.
They are not yet available to for consultation or to answer enquiries, but we thought people may wish to see the sample below. You can see larger copy HERE.

That's pretty exciting. I daresay we'll hear something down the track about in indexing project.
It is fun - the worst thing is - we want to stop and read them all the time. The good thing is, it has made us get the old copying stand out again, and realise just how good it is coupled with digital cameras. We are just thinking of soooo many things we can copy now. Must post a pic.
Is there any chance of me getting a copy of the photo of the page with Alexander Blair on it Linda?
Hi Janne,
We will not be releasing anything until further into the process - the pages are still to be finally edited. And he will probably appear on a page each year for the whole 44 years, with minor changes, so working out what we will be doing is going to take some time. Stay tuned!
